Hello Rob and all.
Thank you for your open house, which I attended yesterday. It was good to get us back in the boating mode for the spring. Judy and I are looking forward to the Augusta Boat Show, and the boating season, which I hope will be a good long one.
Thank you for all of the work that you. Nancy and your crew do for us, your customers. So many businesses forget about us after the sale, but as we found out, the sale is only the beginning of a nice relationship.
See you at the Augusta Boat Show. Regards, John and Judy

Just wanted to take time to say thank you all for the excellent service you have given us this year and for all the good boating tips. We are however, sad to see the summer come to a end. But we are hanging on to the very last day of great boating on Great Pond. We have enjoyed our boat very much this year and will do so next year. Thanks Again.

Hi Rob, Nice talking to you today. I don't know what I was thinking I DO want my boat put back in the water when this mess is over. For some reason I thought this week-end was Labor Day. (It's tough getting old). Anyhow after I talked to you Andy called me and I told him you had everything under control. When I told Pam what was going on she said "isn't it nice having Clark Marine" and you know what, it is nice having you. Here we are 150 miles away and it's nice knowing we have someone to look after our boat and more importand someone who cares about it. It's always a pleasure doing business with you and your staff.
Thank You!!

Hello Rob,
We had such a wonderful experience today with the purchase of an AVALON 1680RE. Not only did you sell us a Pontoon boat, you delivered it 200 miles from purchase, without question! Dave was outstanding in all fastets, very patient man, thank you. It get's a little trying with transfers of boats. You and Dave senior made it like magic in a gentlemanly fashion. We will do all our Fresh Water Business with your Shop, without question! I still till this moment can't believe a Shop can deliver on all aspects of what they say. Massachusetts Dealers should take lesson from you practices . You guy's are the best I've ever have dealt with!!!!!! KUDOS to you and your Staff!!!!!

Rob,
I wanted to thank you again for all your assistance in the recent purchase of the Avalon pontoon boat. Derek was extremely helpful and knowledgeable in showing us how to use the boat and the finer points of operating the different accessories.
As a result we had a great time on the water on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. The pontoon boat performed perfectly and and several of us took turns operating it. We went to places on Great Pond we had not visited in years. I would certainly recommend the boat and Clark Marine to all.
Thank you again,

Good afternoon Rob,
Just wanted to let you know that you and your company, and of course the boat, exceeded all of my expectations.
We took the boat out for a family ride on Monday and very thing worked flawlessly.
One mistake, probably my own, I was surprised to not find any jackets or throw cushion on board, not a big deal I was able to grab some in Portland.

Received from Maurice Croteau 4/30/2011;
When we went out on the water on Monday the boat ran very well. You both fed me with plenty of information. I have not had a chance to read my owner’s manual but, will be doing it in the very near future. The boating season is just about here and looking forward to take it out now. I stopped at my daughters house that day and my grandson ran to the boat and yelled "A BOAT" He was so excited to see the boat because he knows he's going on the boat this summer. Thanks for making this purchase fun.
Thank You, Maurice L Croteau Berlin,N.H.

To Everyone at Clark Marine 11/10
Thank you soooo much for the services you provide me with my Triton Bass Boat. I'm a life member of Bass, having fished numerous bass tournaments in 7 states and Canada over the past 28 years. As you can well imagine I've also dealt with numerous marine businesses providing an array of services, but never have I dealt with a business that would measure up to your standards. Everyone is so courteous, polite and eager to assist, knowledge and professional, your mechanics are top notch as well and there is no worry of repeat business because it wasn't fixed right the first time.

I would like to thank the entire service crew, and in particular Nelson, for helping me out and saving my boating vacation, especially on such short notice. The boat still runs great, and I will be completing all the recommendations you suggested, which were very much appreciated. Your shop came highly recommended to me, and I have recommended you highly to all my friends and family that vacation in the area. I look forward to working with you in the future, keep up the good work!

Rob and Crew,
Pardon us for being remiss in writing this letter. Quite frankly, since taking delivery of our new Avalon pontoon boat, Nancy and I have been far too busy on the lake to write letters! I just wanted to send you our compliments and sincere gratitude for allowing us to join the Clark Marine family of customers. Every moment of the transaction which brought us this superb product, was without question, one of the most pleasant experiences of our lives. Your sincere and personal approach to us as new customers was nothing short of amazing. From the moment I entered your place of business, after shopping in and out of state, to this the mid-summer season of enjoying the new boat on the lake, we have been made to feel “special” by you and your crew. The set-up and delivery of our boat made us understand your commitment to customer service. The rapid way you dispatched your on the water service crew to make a minor comfort adjustment just reinforced our beliefs. Having now stopped in for accessories and advice on several occasions, make us feel like part of the family. We could not be more pleased with the product, but more importantly, the unequaled commitment by your organization to making sure we remain loyal customers. In today’s “fast food” approach to customer service, your true “Maine Family Tradition” style of service will no doubt keep you separated from the competition. We feel blessed to have found you! Thanks again for the wonderful product and continued commitment to our satisfaction. I look forward to years of continued association with your organization. Rest assured, we recommend you to all our boating friends and neighbors on the lake. Wishes for continued success!

Nice to know I have a great safety net,
Just another of many accolades for Clark Marine. I purchased a used boat from Clark's just last month and put it in the water last week, it ran great all weekend and we enjoyed it a bunch. We came up again this last weekend and after attempting to turn it over no luck. We called Clarks up and within two hours Nelson was at my dock plugs and battery in hand. After kidding me about killing another boat (they know me well) Nelson jumped in and had it running. Bottom line NEW OWNER ERROR. I told Rob I purchased the Marina not the boat. If you want to make one great decision this year? Buy a boat from Clarks I did!!!!! And couldn't be happier.Thank you Nelson, thank you Clark Marine.

I'll stop by during the holiday weekend and settle up my bill as we discussed. Thanks again, it's always a pleasure dealing with you and your business.

glad to hear things are so busy...i'm not surprised. Geoff and I just recently commented to ourselves and a few other people, that you guys are definitely the best in the business when it comes to customer service. You continue to amaze each us each time with your response time and attention to detail.
Oh, and I have to take this opportunity to comment on your recent newspaper ad which has the "Chippendales" staff. I knew there was a reason why we picked you! LOL I was tempted to make a wisecrack remark to Mike when he delivered the boat but I didn't want to make him uncomfortable.

Dear Rob, Nelson, and all of Clark Marine
I have been meaning to write you for a while now. I have heard many boating (Sales & Maintenance) horror stories from people who live in the greater Augusta area. The one thing in common with their stories is they didn't go to Clark Marine.
Even though my boat is old and dirty, I get the same class A treatment and service from Clark Marine as someone who just bought a new boat. I wanted to say that I really appreciate that.
When that day comes for me to purchase a new boat, there will only be one place for me and that is Clark Marine.
Sincerely, Steve Andrews Mount Vernon. (Me)

Hi Rob, Louise and I just watched the "Our Maine Magazine" and saw you (and John) describing all of your Clark Marine facilities and services. Congratulations on a fine presentation; your Monmouth facility looks great. We know that you, Dave and your staff are actually much better than the "hardware" you offer. It was a pleasure doing business with you for more than 25 years. Wish we were closer, P.S. Say "Hi" to Mike for me.
Most of the boating public have their personal horror stories of some of the service they've received from the industry. Clark's Marine may well be the exception. In many years of boat ownership, leaving wakes on both salt and fresh water, I've never encountered better service. Their product line is exemplary, but it's the service that truly sets them apart. For a number of years I had only purchased maintenance equipment for boats bought elsewhere, but even when I only needed advice the personnel, including the owner, were ready to help any way they could. When it came time to buy a new (and expensive) family boat I couldn't imagine a better place to go than Clark's. Even when they suggested going with the revolutionary Evinrude E-tec (no more inboards for me) they were spot on. Though probably not policy, when was the last time you heard of a deal consummated on a handshake? Like the governor of California once said, "I'll be back." Pros: Service, Product, Attentiveness after the sale, Closed one deal with a handshake. Ayuh. Cons: Fuhgeddaboudit!

I have had unexpected pleasant experiences conducting business with Clark Marine. After purchasing an older boat in a private sale last summer, I realized that Maintenance would be an issue. This turned out to be more then true. Because I housed my boat with Clark Marine, I was treated as a valued customer. My boat indeed has had repair issues. The owner has contacted me personally on several occasions and on the occasions when I have had to contact him, he has been extremely accomodating and fair.
I have seen Clark Marine's advertising and featured is their Top 100 Rating. I would consider Clark Marine to be Number 1.
Dear Rob, Thank You so much for your prompt and responsive assistance when my boat died. I really appreciate your reliability and excellent customer service.
Best regards,

I had to take the time and type this email. What an outstanding Marina you are. My boat loved the movie Titanic so much it did the same thing right to the bottom of Webber Pond. I called Clark Marine and had the boat there the next day. I have been to ER's that pale in comparison. Before I could give all my information a mechanic was all over the engine. And the counter people couldn't have been more helpful. I would drive 100 mile to get my boat to this Marina best kept secret in New England. Thank you Clark Marina you do it right!

Rob,
I want you to post this email on your web site as soon as you can.
Last year I was busting your chops about the fees associated with the boat storage. I wanted to save some cash and store it myself. You made a valid effort to convince me otherwise. An important point you made was that the boat storage customers get first priority for any issues and service. That you also have a boat on Cobbossee for emergency services. I relented and dropped off the boat in the fall.
Fast forward to today. I picked up the boat at Lakeside and took off. Just after leaving the "no wake" zone, the engine sputtered to a halt. I tried a few things but the engine just wouldn't respond. I called Clark Marine and in no time you had Troy and Butch out to take a look. They got the engine going, but in a little while the same thing occurred. I called back and you re-dispatched Troy out to bring us back. In the meantime you figured out what the problem was over the phone, a bad fuel pump. You found the part and had a one of your mechanics meet us at the dock. He swapped out the bad fuel pump and we were soon on our way.
This email is an official notice of my eating crow.
You were RIGHT and I will be the first to fess up!
You guys were right there and took care of the situation.
As always, the guys from Clark; Troy, Butch and Shawn were professional, knowledgeable and courteous.
And most importantly, I promise to never bust your chops again!
Thanks,
Bob Brown

Filter Suppliers are all over this...
Perhaps Racor will contact you and help even more...
I commend you on this and to take it a step further suggest you contact the the media and have them write this as a way to keep people boating and enjoying this beautiful lifestyle...

Hi Rob,
I just wanted to send a note thanking you for making my boat buying experience pleasurable. I had some reservations about buying from a dealer that was a two hour drive away. From the first e-mail requesting price information straight thru to picking up the boat on Saturday was a pleasant experience. You are the only dealer who had prices on his web site, everyone else was a "call me for details" and once they had my name and number, I got called once a week until I told them I had purchased. They all tried to be nice and spin it that they had a couple of great deals going on and they didn't want me to miss out, but it still felt like pressure. I felt no pressure and got a better deal at Clark's too. I don't consider myself to be "high maintenance", but the time and patience you and Nelson spent dealing with me while I was wavering back and forth about the E-Tec vs.. the Optimax was great. Saturday morning when I arrived to pick up the boat, even though it was opening day of fishing season and you were swamped with people picking up boats and dropping off boats for service, not once did I feel rushed to leave. The boat was all waxed up and the numbers were already on it, it was ready for the water. The time that Mike spent with me talking about the boat, motor, break in and regular maintenance before we went out on the water and then at the lake was well worth the wait for ice out to pick it up. In my hunt to buy a boat this winter, no other dealer I spoke with offered to send a technician out on the water with me. After the warranty cards were all filled out and I was heading for the lake you asked me once again if everything was as I wanted with the boat and if everything that we had agreed to had been done. You could of been pushing me out the door saying thanks, but instead you checked one more time to make sure I was happy and everything was to my liking. I don't know if you treat every customer the way you have treated me, but if you do you will be sure to have many repeat customers. My buddies who purchased Triton's over the last two years are jealous with the service I have received and the care you took in rigging my boat, not only to make it operational, but to make sure it looks good too. I am sure after my buddy sees my boat and the changes you make to Steve's boat to get the cables off the back deck, he will be towing his 186 up to have it fixed too. When it comes time for me to purchase another boat or have a friend looking to buy a boat Clarks Marine will be the first number I tell them to call. Thanks Again!!!

12\08\05 Hey Rob - Great news on finishing in the top 20!! When you stop and think about the competitive advantages of dealerships that exist in states that have larger populations, longer boating seasons and more business friendly climates it's really quite amazing that a company from Maine can place so well. I'm absolutely delighted for you and hope that you have had the opportunity to celebrate "appropriately". I'll get the word out to the rest of the members in the next newsletter. Happy holidays to you and yours! Susan Swanton Executive Director Maine Marine Trade Association

Recieved November 15th 2005 The following letters were recieved from Debbie Viens, 3rd grade teacher and her students of T.C. Hamlin Elementary School in Randolph Maine. In response to Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed Educational Director Sarah Rogers and Rob Brown’s visit in early November.
Dear Rob, Thanks so much for putting me in contact with Sarah. It was wonderful! It really helped me pull all the information we had learned together in an understandable concept for the children. I have shared the program with all the other third grade teachers. They were excited to hear about this wonderful resource! Thanks again Sincerely. Debbie Viens
Dear Mr. Brown, We learned it is important to keep our water clean. Our favorite part was when we got to look at the big model and you and Mrs. Rogers talked to us about it. Thank you for teaching us about the Cobbossee watershed. Sincerely, Cody and Emily
Dear Mr Brown, Thank you for coming to teach us about land and water and for bringimg Mrs. Rogers too, to T. C. Hamlin. We both liked the construction plans and the rules. It was so cool even though you said it was going to be boring. We will try to help land and water by not littering. Sincerely, Rachel and Andrew
Dear Mr. Brown, Thank you for spending some of your time with us. We learned a lot from you and from the poster about the construction site. It really made us think about the water that was getting polluted. We learned that if the water gets dirty the fish can get hurt too. Sincerely, Taylor and Beth
Hi Rob,
Just wanted to send you a note telling you how much fun we are having with the Tahoe Pontoon Boat. The majority of your mail is probably "business" oriented so we thought we would send you one with just a big "LOVE THE BOAT" in it. The Evinrude E-Tec rocks, slowly gaining a reputation on the lake. We've gotten remarks like "Isn't that the motor the Coast Guard and the Navy Seals are using now" to "Hey I saw that commercial where the dude loses his shorts because that E-Tec is screaming".
While slowly cruising the lake we've had a hard time convincing folks that this engine is a 2-stroke because it is so darn quiet. When we open it up and show them the hole shot then they believe. When we made the decision to shift from the 17 foot bowrider to a pontoon, the kids were very unhappy due to the fact that they thought their tubing and knee boarding days were coming to an end. Then came the first white knuckled tube ride. All their doubts were quickly erased!
There is an area on Bauneg Beg Lake where boaters go to anchor and enjoy the cool deep water. It's out of the way of boating action, and is
within a short swim to a killer rope swing on shore. At any given time you will find a bunch of boaters out there. That seems to be where we have spent quite a bit of time this summer. At this spot the Tahoe converts to a Diving and Jumping platform. We'll crank some tunes and proceed to jump off of every square inch of this boat. When we first went out to this spot early in the summer we asked the kids to please be careful of the seats when they started to jump from them. All we can say now is we are doing some of the best durability testing these seats will ever see! The sun deck in the back gets more use as a launch pad!
As you can see we love the boat. Attached is a bunch of summer fun photos, even a couple with Buster our cat in them. He enjoys nothing more than to sit on that back sun deck while we fish, hoping we pull in something he can get his paws on! Also included are a few from a visit to Wells Beach. We had the special treat of meeting up with a small seal on the beach that day. Buster would have loved him!
Hope things are well for you and all up your way....

SO YOU THINK YOU WANT A PONTOON BOAT
By Carol Dean
Last year my husband and I rented a pontoon boat to see if we would love it as much as we thought we would.Well, we had 10 people of all ages from babies on up including Smokey, our new black lab puppy. The hours flew by as we went swimming, fishing, and tubing. The babies even took their naps. We hated to see 4:30 PM roll around. The time we had to turn the boat in.We all agreed it was the best day of summer.
Next came the challenges of a winter that just didn’t want to quit - not our favorite season. We decided to start visiting the boat shows in early spring in an effort to help us tolerate the cold and keep us dreaming about warm weather and the fun that had to be just around the corner.Mind you, we were just dreaming. For financial reasons, the plan was to wait another year or so before actually buying a boat.
My husband, John, loves to study things right to death. He reads and learns all he can in an effort to make an informed decision. That makes me happy, because I manage the budget and, like most people, it is usually pretty tight.I won’t give the go ahead unless I believe this “toy” is going to be worth it.
After John spends countless hours on the Internet gathering information on the construction features and options available from the various manufacturers, we were ready to hit the boat shows. We were on our third visit to a boat show.We went to Portland, and the one in Augusta twice. That is where we talked with all the dealers. We ended up buying the boat we were sitting on - a 22-foot Avalon Paradise Elite from Rob at Clark Marine in Manchester. To tell you the truth, Rob was the first person we had talked to over a year before when we were starting our research, and here we were right back where we started from.
I have to tell you, we are convinced that we made a smart purchase and we haven’t regretted it for a moment. We have already put more hours on our motor than most people put on in a whole summer, and we still have a couple months left.In fact, we are having it pulled this week for the motor’s 100-hour service. We can’t get enough, and the weather (after getting past May) has been wonderful.Several weekends we have spent so much time on the boat that we have only gone home to sleep and to have breakfast.
As we were deciding on options for the boat, there were many decisions to make. One, did we want a trailer to pull it around or rent a slip and keep it close by.We opted for a slip about seven miles from our house on Cobbosseecontee Lake.Clark Marine helped us with that, too. They have been great at attending to all our needs. We may get a trailer in the future, but for now we are more than content with the convenience of just jumping on board and going.
The slip was a good choice for us.My husband works in Augusta and sometimes we have met right at the Marina to have supper on the boat so as not to waste any precious time. One option I highly recommend as a must if you are going to spend a lot of time on the boat is the changing station and porta-pottie.I couldn’t live without that.It was number one on my list.Guests appreciate it, too.
My husband is crazy about the GPS system that came on the boat.It tells the temperature of the water, how deep the water is, shows little fish swimming under your boat and beeps to let you know they are there, and if it is late at night, it can guide you safely back to shore by just back tracking the way you came out.
There was also a special of one free year of satellite radio. We thought that would be something that we would never bother to invest in, but would give it a try. After all it was free.Well, even though the boat has a nice CD system, we love the satellite radio, and now think we might not be able to live without it.No commercials and every kind of music you can think of.Heck, they even have one whole station that is nothing but Elvis.I’m sold.Pretty smart marketing!
Other features we like.We opted for the double canopy.I love the sun, but worry about the ill effects of too much of it on my children and grandchildren.I also wanted the curtains that go all the way around (like a floating cottage). We cut that idea for now in the interest of being fiscally responsible. We can always add them later. We did add the ski/tow bar, and the kids bought us a tube to pull behind the boat. All of us have enjoyed that feature, and we have the rear entry with ladder. We got the 90 horsepower Mercury motor and that does a good job pulling the tube at about 17 mph.We get up to a speed of about 26 mph when we aren’t pulling anyone, which is our speed at this time in our life.
Smokey, is in seventh heaven. He cries if we drive by some of his favorite islands and rocks where he swims till he drops. The boat has allowed us to meet new folks both at the marina and on those public islands where everyone wants to go for a swim to cool off.Our three-year-old grandson has learned to swim and John’s 85-year-old mother, who has been petrified of water her whole life, has been on the boat three times. We don’t know when we have enjoyed a summer more than this one.Glad we didn’t wait another year.Life is short, and we sure are making the most of every minute with our new boat.
So you think you want a pontoon boat? Well, if you like to relax in the fresh-air and sun, make new friends, and are ready for a new definition of a family entertainment center – then the answer is YES!
Contact us, we’ll tell you more.

Rob,
Just a short note to thank you and your staff for all you did to make our first time boat buying experience a total pleasure.
From our initial meeting at the boat show, to delivery, all our questions and concerns were handled in a professional, yet down-to-earth, manner. The fit and finish of the boat is excellent, as promised, and everything works as it should with no surprises.
We would especially like to thank you for the extra mile you went to in order to get our boat to our dock on time. The near impossible launch site was a challenge, but getting the boat under the bridge took real ingenuity. Please thank all 5 of your employees for their "weight" and effort in accomplishing a difficult task. To make a long story short, the boat was delivered on time without a scratch, as promised.
Please give Dave a special thanks for explaining the entire operation of the boat and motor. Never once did we feel intimidated by a potentially intimidating experience.
Service is your business, and you do it very well. You can be sure we will be coming to you for all of our future needs.
Thanks for everything,
Jay and Julie Stewart

Rob and David,
I would just like to say Thank You for your excellent customer service and with providing us with an extremely pleasant first boat purchase experience. The (Avalon) Excalibur is a beautiful and well made boat and you were right, as it turns many heads. Your attention to detail was very much appreciated. I also would like to thank Derek for his overview of the boat and especially Rod for transporting it to the Lake. It proves to me that we made the right decision in doing business with you and look forward to doing so again in the future.
Thanks Again,

Rob, Nelson and the Gang Many thanks for your great service this spring in getting my boat ready and on the mooring on Androscoggin. You folks went the extra mile with your concern re the mooring and bad winds that plagued us recently. With the lake still going in the wrong direction who knows what's next. The new mooring setup seems to be doing the trick
Thanks Again, See ya soon

Hi Rob.... I got your newsletter ..it's great...the kids do love that kids link...I was wondering how you are faring with the water situation..
The boat is sitting in my yard...I put in two more speakers and a couple of low light courtesy lights for the interior so Carla can find her way to her 12 volt blender after sunset!
I wanted to compliment Derrick, who went over the boat with us...he was great....you can give him a pat on the back for me.
I wanted to share a quick story with you about the lake test. It is one that reveals what type of character a person has real quick.
When we arrived at the lake it was very windy, gray, and just starting to rain. A quick look around reminded me of how early we were in the boating season. The lake was desolate, not a boat or person to be seen. We got underway in some very rough water, and managed to get about 5-10 minutes of pushing that pontoon boat through ocean like waves. The E-Tec was impressive. While we were out I spotted one lone boat docked in the distance, at that moment I thought to myself...now there is a boater who wants to get an early start to the summer of 2005
With that as a setting....the jist of this story is next: we were heading back towards the cove where the boat ramp was, I brought the speed of the boat down so we could slowly cruise back and listen as Derrick shared a ton of helpful information with Carla and I. As we got closer we approached a No Wake buoy. Derrick casually interrupted what he was saying at the time and politely asked me to bring the speed of the boat down a bit more as we were entering this No Wake area. I obliged. With the conditions in mind, it was clear to me here was a man who has pride and respect for what he does.
The lake test was a success and before you could say "here comes the rain" Carla and I were on our way back to Danvers Ma. with our new pontoon boat in tow. The experience on the lake was just one of many that made our boat purchase at Clark Marine a success. Thanks again to you all!

Hi again:
Good I really need an extinguisher...
I expect to be in Augusta some day next week.. probably Tuesday and or Wednesday so will drop by.
Haven't had much time to try out new motor, but did get out a few hours yesterday. We caught three fat salmon on Cathance Lake, but put them back. Getting too lazy to clean, scale and cook them I guess or just hate to kill them.
Had one near mishap as we came in to land. I had put the 9.9 in neutral and was trying to land where I could get out without getting wet and forgot the motor was still running..... couldn't hear the darn thing... don't know if that is a tribute to Mercury or a testament to my advanced age.
Anyway it was a good day and there may be a picture of one of the fish attached. (Joe Seeley of Eastport caught this first fish of the season)

A letter from friend and customer Jim Smith.
Hi Rob, I enjoyed your letter. I am an avid water sports enthusiast and have been around the water for 25 years. Through my life I have earned a commercial inland waterways commercial license and have been a assistant chief boat driver at many AWSA sanctioned water-ski tourneys.
One day pulling a skier through a slalom course we had a life changing event.
The skier was around the third ball of six, and took a horrible fall. The spotter was in the bow of the boat, as I took a hair pin turn with fear of the skier being hurt, the young lady in the bow flew out of the boat...In the same direction the boat was going. The world went into slow motion. thank god for that. The stern of the boat headed toward her, as this happened the engine was cut and I helped her form going under the back as the momentum of the boat was pulling her under.
I was able to pull her up and into the boat as she was shoulder deep under the boat.
The experience was I have was not to impress anyone. It was to press upon the fact the experience is not a substitute for safety. Many happy years have been had on the water and I expect many to come.
